Han River Tent Rental in Seoul: Rules, Prices, Shops
Checked Oct 11, 2026

Seoul allows small shade tents in designated zones of 11 Han River parks from Mar 1 to Nov 30, 2026. The normal hours are 09:00 to 19:00 in March to May and September to November, and 09:00 to 20:00 in June to August, but from Sep 1 to Nov 30 the city has extended them to 22:00. A tent should be about 2 m by 2 m, for 4 people, and picnic mats are allowed anytime and anywhere. If you do not want to carry a tent, shops near the parks rent them. The four I looked at list tent or picnic sets from roughly 10,000 to 50,000 won, with 4 hours as the base time at two of them. The shops' prices come from their own pages as of Oct 10, so check before you go. Naver Map visitor reviews of these four shops over the past year show 971 reviews and one cleanliness complaint.
On Oct 9 I went to Yeouinaru, and I saw people out for a picnic, all pulling carts loaded with tents, mats and all sorts of things toward the Han River. I thought, wow, they came with a car full of stuff. They are really well prepared, haha. But it turned out there is a tent and mat rental shop. I went to eat budae-jjigae at Huijeong Sikdang, and there were a lot of people in the same building, so I wondered what it was, and it was a rental shop. I used to go back and forth to Yeouido and the riverside so often, but I had never thought about renting. That is when it hit me: rental shops must all be on Naver Map, so let me look them up. I wondered about the price, what comes in the set, and, since so many people use the gear, how they keep it clean.

Can I put up a tent at the Han River?
Yes, in a designated zone and in season. The Seoul Han River office's notice, last updated Sep 23, 2026, says shade tents are allowed from Mar 1 (Sun) to Nov 30 (Mon), 2026, and cannot be set up outside that period. The normal hours are 09:00 to 19:00 in March to May and September to November, and 09:00 to 20:00 in June to August, and you must take the tent down yourself when the time is up. A separate line in the notice extends the hours to 22:00 from Sep 1 to Nov 30, and Seoul's Sep 2 press release says the same, so for the rest of this autumn the limit is 22:00. The notice says a tent should be about 2 m by 2 m, for 4 people. It says picnic mats can be used anytime, regardless of period or place, so outside the tent season only mats are allowed.

The notice links to a separate page of banned acts and fines, which I did not read. If you are unsure about a rule, ask the Han River office on 02-3780-0814 or the 120 Dasan Call Center.

Which parks have tent zones?
The notice lists 11 parks with tent zones: Gwangnaru, Jamsil, Ttukseom, Jamwon, Banpo, Ichon, Yeouido, Yanghwa, Mangwon, Nanji and Gangseo. The notice itself is not consistent about the number of zones: its text says 15 zones, but the table lists about 20. I will not give you a count, so look at the zone map at the park. Seoul's Sep 2 release also says delivery zones, where food can be delivered, grew from 6 spots in 3 parks to 17 spots in 11 parks, placed near the tent zones.
Where can I rent a tent, and what does it cost?
I found four shops on Naver Map by the parks at Ttukseom, Banpo and Yeouinaru. This is what each says on its own page as of Oct 10, 2026. I did not re-open the pages today, one source each, so confirm the price and hours on the day. Two of the shops list times that differ from the city's: Nangman Picnic lists picnic sets only after 19:00, and Young Tent's all-day pass runs to 22:30, half an hour past the city's 22:00 limit.
| Shop | Area | Prices listed | Time and hours listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gamseong Tent (감성텐트) | Ttukseom · 18 Neungdong-ro, Gwangjin-gu (Eaton Tower River 3, 1F), about 100 m from Jayang Station Exit 1 | Tent sets 17,000–40,000 won (6-person); picnic sets 10,000–26,000 won | Weekdays 11:00–23:00; weekends and holidays 10:00–23:00 |
| Nangman Picnic (낭만소풍) | Banpo · 195 Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu (Banpo Shopping Town, basement) | Picnic package 35,000 won; mat set 24,000 won; extra hour 5,000 won; all-day +10,000 won | 4 hours base; all-day to 21:00, paid in advance; picnic sets only after 19:00 |
| Young Tent (영텐트) | Ttukseom · 18 Neungdong-ro, Gwangjin-gu (Eaton Tower River 3, 1F) | Not noted in my check | 4 hours base, up to 7 with coupon, cash or review; all-day pass to 22:30 |
| Haru Tent (하루텐트) | Yeouido · 113 Yeouinaru-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu (Gongjak Shopping Center, 1F), 2 min from Yeouinaru Station Exit 1 | 10,000–50,000 won, wagon included (third-party intro, may be old) | Mon–Fri 10:00–23:00; Sat–Sun 9:00–23:00 |
One mismatch to know: Gamseong lists 6-person tents, while the city's notice describes a 2 m by 2 m, 4-person tent. I can't tell whether a 6-person tent fits the zones, so ask the shop which sizes it brings to the park.
Naver Map pins
| # | Place | Naver Map |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gamseong Tent, Ttukseom (뚝섬 감성텐트) | Open |
| 2 | Young Tent, Ttukseom (뚝섬 영텐트) | Open |
| 3 | Nangman Picnic, Banpo (반포 낭만소풍) | Open |
| 4 | Haru Tent, Yeouido (여의도 하루텐트) | Open |
| 5 | Huijeong Sikdang, Yeouinaru (희정식당 여의나루) | Open |
I do not know which of these shops is the one I saw by Huijeong Sikdang, so pin 5 is the restaurant only. New to Naver Map? Naver Map vs Kakao Map vs Google Maps explains it, and Han River buses and Ttareungyi bikes covers getting around the river.

Are the rental tents clean?
Shared gear is the obvious worry, so I counted what customers wrote. I copied the visitor-review pages of the four shops on Naver Map on Oct 11 and counted the reviews from Oct 11, 2025 to Oct 11, 2026. I read the cleanliness-related ones one by one. I did not count Google Maps reviews, so this is one platform only.
| Shop | Reviews in the year | Average stars | Cleanliness complaints | Cleanliness praise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gamseong Tent | 356 | 4.93 | 0 | 87 |
| Nangman Picnic | 150 | 4.96 | 0 | 26 |
| Young Tent | 245 | 4.93 | 1 | 40 |
| Haru Tent | 220 | 4.95 | 0 | 48 |
| Total | 971 | 1 | 201 |
The one complaint, for Young Tent in April 2026, was a 3-star review about how a mat was kept. The averages use only the reviews that carry a star rating, and all four sit around 4.9, so I won't rank the shops. Reviews cluster in April, May and September, and there were none in December and January. Young Tent's own page says it disinfects and cleans every day; that is the shop's claim, not mine.
What should I check before I go?
- The date. Tents are allowed to Nov 30, 2026. After that only mats are.
- The hours. The city's limit is 22:00 until Nov 30, but a shop may close, or stop offering tents, earlier than that.
- The tent size. Ask for a 2 m by 2 m, 4-person tent, as the city describes.
- The set. Ask what is in it and whether a wagon is included.
FAQ
Can I use a tent at any Han River park?
Only in the marked zones of the 11 parks the city lists, and only until Nov 30, 2026.
Until what time can I stay?
09:00 to 22:00 from Sep 1 to Nov 30, 2026. Before that, the limit was 19:00 or 20:00 depending on the month.
Can I just bring a picnic mat?
Yes. The city says mats are allowed anytime, regardless of period or place.
How much does a rental cost?
The shops' own pages list roughly 10,000 to 50,000 won, with 4 hours as the base time at two of them. The top of that range comes from a third-party intro, not the shop. Check the day's price.
Can I book a tent rental in English?
I don't know. I read the shops' pages in Korean and did not check for English.
Who do I call about the rules?
The Han River office on 02-3780-0814, or 120.
Weekend prices and the banned-acts page
I'll reopen the shops' pages on the weekend for prices and hours, read the page of banned acts, and update this page. I haven't rented from these shops, so this is a read of the city's notice, the shops' pages and Naver reviews, not a rental.
