About the guide

Hi, I’m SeoulAslan

I’m from Korea. I lived in Vietnam for six years and in Thailand for a year, so I know what it feels like to arrive somewhere and find that the useful information is in a language you can’t read.

I hike about twice a month. When a guide comes from my own walk, I say so. When it doesn’t, it’s based on official Korean sources.

The Seoul Taste 100 (서울미식 100선, officially "The 100 Taste of Seoul 2026") is Seoul's own restaurant list, announced by Seoul Metropolitan Government on October 6, 2026. Sixty food experts helped pick 100 places in seven categories, from Korean fine dining to grills, plant-based food and bars. The easiest way to use it is the official Google Maps list linked from the city's announcement: save it once and all 100 appear on your map. 42 of the 100 are closed on Mondays, so check the day before you go.

BOOK BEFORE YOU GO

I'm from Korea, and I lived in Vietnam for six years and in Thailand for a year. When I lived in Vietnam, the restaurants with good TripAdvisor reviews were always full of foreigners. So I don't take any "best restaurants" list on trust. This one is at least the city's own list, not a ranking built on star ratings. Below is the whole list as the city published it, sorted by district, with each place's closing days and its Korean address.

What is the Seoul Taste 100?

It's Seoul Metropolitan Government's own pick of places that show what eating in Seoul is like. The city also put out a 2025 edition. The 2026 list was announced on October 6, 2026, together with the city's food festival, Taste of Seoul 2026.

Here is how the city says it chose them. Sixty food experts took part: food journalists, food travelers, academic researchers, professional chefs and tourism experts. Each expert recommended three places in each of the seven categories, 21 in total. The city gave extra points by rank, added up the results, then made the final 100 by also looking at global appeal, expertise and how much people are talking about each place.

25 of the 100 are new this year. In the Korean category, the new ones are Leebukbang, Myeon Seoul, Sancho, Seoryung, Superpan, Yuroc, Poom Seoul, Hamo, Hansikgonggan Soban and Haenam Cheonilgwan.

How is the list split?

The Seoul Café & Dessert 50 is a separate list, new this year. The city says it picked those 50 for the quality of the drinks and desserts, the space, how popular they are, and how easy they are for foreign visitors to reach. This guide covers the main 100. The 50 are on the official site.

How do you use the official Google Maps list?

Seoul's announcement links the list on four services: Google Maps, Naver Map, Kakao Map and Catchtable. For most visitors, Google Maps is the one already on the phone.

  1. Open the official Google Maps list on your phone while signed in to Google.
  2. Save it. Google's help page says a list someone else made shows up under "Lists you saved", and its places appear on your main map.
  3. When you don't want 100 pins on your map, go to the list, tap More, then Hide on your map. Show on your map brings them back.

Use the list to see what is near you. To actually get there, switch to Naver Map: Google Maps doesn't give turn-by-turn walking or driving directions in Korea.

The same list is also on Naver Map and Kakao Map. I still check a restaurant's ratings on Tmap, Naver Map and Google Maps together before I go. How Koreans read those ratings is in How Koreans find local restaurants.

Where in Seoul are the 100 restaurants?

Almost half are in one district. I counted the official addresses: Gangnam-gu has 45, then Jung-gu 15, Jongno-gu 14 and Yongsan-gu 11. That's 85 of the 100 in four districts.

Chart of where the Seoul Taste 100 2026 places are: Gangnam-gu 45, Jung-gu 15, Jongno-gu 14, Yongsan-gu 11, Seocho-gu 4, Mapo-gu 4, Seongdong-gu 3, Yeongdeungpo-gu 2, Gangseo-gu 1, Songpa-gu 1
The 100 by district, counted from the addresses on the official list. Chart: Before You Go Korea

In Gangnam-gu, 14 of the 45 are on Dosan-daero (도산대로) or its numbered side streets, and 9 more on Eonju-ro (언주로) or its side streets. Across the city, a few are high up in hotels and towers, which helps when you look for the entrance:

  • La Yeon (23rd floor) and Palsun share The Shilla Seoul's address, 249 Dongho-ro, Jung-gu.
  • Bicena is on the 81st floor of Lotte World Tower, Songpa-gu.
  • Eatanic Garden is on the 36th floor of Josun Palace, Gangnam-gu.
  • L'Amant Secret is on the 26th floor of L'Escape Hotel, Jung-gu.
  • Haobin is in Ambassador Seoul Pullman, Jung-gu, and Bongraeheon in the Mayfield Hotel, Gangseo-gu.
  • Ristorante EO is on the 6th floor of The Hyundai Seoul, Yeongdeungpo-gu.

These tables use the official Korean and English pages of the Taste of Seoul site. The two pages agree on every closing day. The Korean address is there so you can show it to a taxi driver or paste it into Naver Map. Opening hours change more often, so check them on the official list or the map before you go.

How do you book a Seoul Taste 100 restaurant?

Check the closing day first. On the official list, 42 of the 100 close on Mondays and 40 on Sundays. 24 close on both. Only 32 list no regular day off.

Catchtable (캐치테이블). Seoul's announcement links a Catchtable collection of the list. Catchtable also has an English (global) version. Its own help page says you sign up with an email address instead of a Korean phone number, you pay with a foreign card, and notices come by email instead of text message. You pay a deposit when you book and the rest at the restaurant, so read the cancellation terms before you pay. Restaurants have to sign up separately for the English version, and it lists fewer places than the Korean app, so a place may not show up in English. Search by its English name first, then its Korean name.

Phone. Every place on the official list has a phone number, shown in the tables above. If a place isn't on Catchtable in English, calling is the next step, or ask your hotel's front desk to call for you.

Mobile data. Catchtable sends its notices by email, and you'll be checking the map list and Naver Map on the street, so you need data the whole time, not just hotel Wi-Fi. If your home plan doesn't cover Korea, a Korea eSIM is the simple fix: Klook sends it right after you buy, you activate it in the app or with a QR code, and it runs on SKT's network. It's a data plan, not a Korean phone number, so for phone bookings the front desk is still your friend. The eSIM link is in the box at the top of this post.

Look at the hours, not just the day. Several places on the list open only for dinner. For example, the official list gives Solbam 17:30–22:30, Mitou and Muni 18:00–22:00, and Gaggen by Choi Junho 19:00–22:00.

What is Taste of Seoul 2026 (Seoul Food Week)?

It's the city's food festival, held October 23–29, 2026 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and across Seoul. The announced programs are Seoul Restaurant Week, Seoul Food Market, Seoul Food Tour and Seoul Food Workshop. The city says it will post each program's schedule and how to join, one by one, on the Taste of Seoul website and its Instagram.

Would you rather have someone take you?

The Taste 100 is a list of restaurants you book on your own. If you'd rather eat with a guide, or learn to cook Korean food yourself, these two food experiences in Seoul are well reviewed on Klook, and both are linked in the box at the top of this post. Neither one is part of the Taste 100 or visits its restaurants.

  • Gwangjang Market street food tour: 2 hours in English at Gwangjang Market (광장시장), as a group tour. You eat your way through the market's stalls, from bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) to tteokbokki, collect a stamp for each dish and get a small souvenir at the end. It had 5.0 from 192 reviews and started from 106,700 won on Oct 7. Klook says it may not suit vegetarians.
  • Korean cooking class with a market visit: 3 hours 30 minutes. You start with the guide at Mangwon Market (망원시장) in Mapo-gu, buying ingredients and trying street food, then cook in a local home kitchen and sit down to a full Korean meal with many side dishes (hanjeongsik). Up to 10 guests, the chef speaks English, and vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free requests are taken. It had 5.0 from 275 reviews and started from 137,500 won on Oct 7.

If you're in Seoul during food week, look at the city's own Seoul Food Tour program first, once its schedule is up on the Taste of Seoul website.

FAQ

Who chose the Seoul Taste 100?

Seoul Metropolitan Government, with 60 food experts: journalists, food travelers, researchers, chefs and tourism experts. Each recommended three places per category, and the city made the final 100.

How many Korean restaurants are on the list?

27. The rest are Western 23, Asian 15, Grill 10, Café & Dessert 9, Plant-based 8 and Bar & Pub 8.

Is there an official Google Maps list of the Seoul Taste 100?

Yes. Seoul's announcement links it, along with Naver Map, Kakao Map and Catchtable lists. Save it and the places show under "Lists you saved".

Can foreigners book these restaurants without a Korean phone number?

On Catchtable's English version, yes: you sign up with email and pay with a foreign card. Not every restaurant is on the English version. If one isn't, call the number on the official list.

Which day are most of them closed?

Monday. 42 of the 100 close on Mondays and 40 on Sundays.

More of the 100 on Catchtable

I'll watch for the Taste of Seoul 2026 program details as they come out, especially Seoul Restaurant Week, and whether more of the 100 show up on Catchtable's English version.
